Most folks struggle with motivation every day. I'm one of them. Motivation can be broken down into a few subcategories. My fifth Law of Health and Fitness is "Loving It." Progress and motivation are possible if you look forward to your workouts. They have to be challenging and interesting to you. If you despise them before you start them, you're not going to survive them for very long. If your reasons why are meaningful to you, then staying motivated is easier. I'm always promoting health, fitness, quality of life, and feeling good as reasons to get and stay motivated. Not to say that a person's goal to lose weight or fit into smaller clothes isn't motivating—it's just that when these goals are obtained then new ones need to come into play. When the numbers on your scale and measuring tape are low enough to make you happy then it's important to start to explore some new numbers. I'm talking about numbers that relate to ability, improvement, and achievement. Your physical appearance will improve at a more rapid rate if you can start to exercise with your focus on power, speed, and strength. This mind set applies to both men and women. I've decided to fast. No not food. Funds. And not because the economy is in the toilet, though that has something to do with it, it's more so to prove to myself that I can live more frugally. That I don't need that cup of tea or that wrap from Fresh Market. I'm not a big spender generally, my hair cuts are trade with a friend I know, I don't die my hair or get my nails done, I shop at Thrift stores for clothes and I've never been a big fan of fashion. I do, however, spend a fair amount of money on food. Organic food is very important to me. So, in order to afford my organic preference, I've decided to cut back on some of the other things I'm dropping a few bucks on here and there. It starts tomorrow, Monday March 26th 2012. I'm going to go an entire week without spending a penny..and not in the British sense of 'Spend a Penny', that could be quite horrendous for my health. My car is full of gas, my fridge is stocked. I'm already replacing one meal a day with Shakeology and using my Penny Pinchers Almanac. I'm ready. I think this could be an obsession...if I make it a week, I may try two...of course I am paying bills, I won't be going in the red for this experiment, rather doing what I can to stay out of it, permanently! When I re-read this it sounds as though I am an avid spender..but it's amazing how a couple of bucks here and there can really add up. There's no denying that topical applications of vitamins and minerals can go a long way to improving skins appearance. However, skin cannot thrive on moisturizer alone! What you eat plays a tremendous role in the the health of your skin. This includes everything from Acne to Wrinkles. I'm going to stick my neck out here and loudly state that yes, you can improve the look of wrinkles with FOOD! Power foods, high potency nutrients and minerals can bring vast improvement to overall health and really improve your reflection! Found in nuts, seeds, green leafy vegetables, mango and kiwi fruits, Vitamin E contains photoprotective and anti-oxidant properties. The vitamin protects cellular membranes, helps even out skin tone, can improve healing and scars. Collagen is a huge beauty word. We often talk about volume loss and collagen loss in the treatment room. Collagen levels deplete with age, stress, environmental factors, diet. All leading to accelerated aging. Found in carrots, oranges and sweet potatoes, Vitamin C increases collagen, helping skin repair itself and assisting in holding on to that volume we associate with a youthful visage.
